Aspen Pedestrian Mall Refined Conceptual Plan
Community is Invited to Review Plan at Two Upcoming Events
Aspen, CO – The City of Aspen and its design team partner, Design Workshop, invite community members to attend two upcoming events at which the Refined Conceptual Plan for the Aspen Pedestrian Mall will be presented. The first is a walking tour through the Mall, with the project team presenting plan and its elements. The second is a public open house with a formal presentation. Both events will feature the refined conceptual plan and illustrations that are a culmination of public input from Phase I and Phase II of the project.
“This design connects everything that we’ve learned so far – historical information, public input, site survey data – and it pulls elements and concepts from the three design alternatives into a single conceptual plan,” said project planning and landscape design lead, Mike Albert. “We are excited to continue the momentum of this project by hosting two opportunities for the public to review the Refined Conceptual Plan.
REFINED CONCEPTUAL PLAN
The Refined Conceptual Plan incorporates information collected over the past year during Phase I – Inventory and Analysis, Phase II – Conceptual Design and extensive community input. The Refined Conceptual design considers Mall elements such as historic character; programming and placemaking; infrastructure and ADA accessibility; signage and furnishings; human comfort; and tree preservation and plantings. The plan will be available for public review and comment at both upcoming events.
